The mushroom patch was dark with a light mist. Rachel sat on top of a large mushroom and let the small dew drops wet her hair while other fairies sought ater shelter. She lifted her head towards the sky and felt the drops hit her face and roll down her neck. She loved the rain. It was so different and misunderstood, as she, herself, was.
The slight chill was finally setting in and her delicate skin pricked. She wondered why no one else could enjoy the rain. It was almost like a cool bath. This was probably why she had such few friends. No one else liked what she liked. Not that she really cared. She just wished that there was someone else she could share it with.

Theory sat huddled under a tall mushroom with his crow, Aiden. Stroking Aiden's soft feathers, Theory listened to the rainfall becoming heavier. He enjoyed the sounds around him. It was a way to see the world without actually seeing it. What he has heard with his vibrant ears, he liked. The world of what he knew was beautiful. Of coarse, his hearing had become quite good without his sight so he heard alot. Even the more gothic of sounds. Gothic meaning: fairies being cruel to one another, saddness, anger, corruptness. He knew more than many fairies knew due to his strong hearing. He hoped things would get better but wasn't so sure at this point. Right now, during this peaceful moment, he would enjoy what beauty surrounded him.

Britan sat with many of her friends from Petal Orchard Academy talking away about the dreaded weather. She was very popular amoung the crowd and liked it that way. She saw Rachel sitting atop a mushroom not far away letting the hard drops fall on to her. Britan laughed and said, "Look you guys. What a weirdo. Why would anyone ever like that cold wet stuff? It's terrible and messes up your hair! It also weighs down your wings. She is such a loser." Of coarse the others laughed and agreed with her. She smiled and basked in the light they were shining on her. She was in heaven.

As the rain became heavier, Rachel grew happier. She shut her eyes to listen and feel the large drops falling. She enjoyed this the most. Remembering that sleep is best when rain falls heavy, she quickly got down from the top of the mushroom she had sat upon and walked to a hollow in the large oak tree that marked the edge of Mushroom Patch.
She sat inside the hollow and tried to dry off. The chill was just setting in but she didn't care. She layed down while shivering. Bringing her legs to her chin, she wrapped her arms around her legs and closed her eyes. Sleep was not far from her then.

Scarlet had watched that mean girl Britan making fun of Rachel. Rachel was usually picked on, though she was probably unaware. Rachel was probably the only decent fairy in the whole realm, but Scarlet being one of the most shy, had no guts to introduce herself. Scarlet had one friend and she was fine with that. But, still as she watched Rachel walk to the hollow to dry off, Scarlet couldn't help but doubt her happiness.

OOC: Rachel is very aware of the picking. She just refuses to care. Also, she is very well liked among other fairies, save the populars like Britan.
Rachel yawned at the rushing sound of the weather growing wilder. It was only a matter of minutes until she would be fast asleep. This was the best time to sleep in her opinion. As a younger fairy, she had been picked on by all other fairies but as she grew older she stopped caring a gained respect for that. She picked and joked with others now and had grown quite fond of a few fairies. She couldn't help but feel sorry for Britan as she listened to the laughter at Rachel's expence. Britan was one of those girls that only found happiness in the midst of others smiles. Rachel could have embarrassed the younger fairy but she knew how important it was for Britan to be in the spotlight. Rachel would allow her to have that. Slowly the slumber incased Rachel and her eyes fluttered shut. She was now dreaming of happier times.

Theory grew tired of the popular fairies and began to head away from the mushroom patch. It was becoming quite unbarable to hear the sounds of laughter at another's expence. He wasn't into that and had no use for those who are. Aiden felt his distress and rubbed his beak against Theory's cheek. "It's alright boy," he cooed to the crow. Aiden loosened his wings then pressed them back to his small body. For a crow, Aiden was exceptionally small. As a youngling, Theory found Aiden and took him in. The size was unusual but not unheard of. Theory cared for him and they became fast friends ever since. They took care of eachother.

The weather was getting crazier. And so was the voices inside Scarlets head. Go flying. Its a perfect night. Perfect for practice, said one voice. No, said another. Too dangerous. Scarlet just sat still. She was a basket case. Not a severe case, no. But a basket case all as well. Scarlet looked out and saw many fairies going on with their lives. Not sitting alone. Scarlet hung her head in self pity, but after a few moments flung her head up. Her eyes were wide, and sparkling with delight. Scarlet jumped up and into the wind. Flapping her wings as hard as she could. No more would she lie in self pity over something she had created for herself!

Britan was still laughing about Rachel when she saw Scarlet fly off into the weather. She began laughing even harder to the point she could not speak. She pointed to the faultering fairy flitting about as rain drops pushed her small body down and wet her wings until they clung together in a mass. Britan knew it was dangerous to fly in such weather and felt a pang of distress for the other fairy. Her heart was struggling with whether to tell an older fairy or leave the foolish one to fall to either a serious injury or worse. Her instinct took control and she left her laughing friends to speak with an adult. Of course the elder fairy was furious but he flew in to help the distressed fairy. He grabbed Scarlet and flew her to a mushroom haven. "You should know better than that," he scolded. Britan was now back with her friends and laughing again at Scarlet getting in trouble. Inside, Britan felt bad but she was living it up on the inside.

Scarlet heard the flap of the wings before she felt the strength of an adult grab onto her arm. "You should know better than that." He cried. Trying to get his voice to rise up above the rumbling storm. Scarlet tried to pull away, but was didn't even faze the man who was dragging her down to the ground. Scarlet looked through wet lashes, and saw Britan. Laughing with her friends like she was the funniest thing in the world! Scarlet huffed and let herself be dragged along like a puppy, and end the humiliation.

Rachel had watched the whole scene before her as if she had seen it all before. In truth she had. Her ownself had been subject to Britan's laughter. She had also seen the concern for the younger fairy Britan had in her eyes. She saw the terror Britan felt for the girl. In that moment, Rachel was confirmed what she had always assumed. Britan wasn't just the average popular. She had a heart when it came to the more physical distresses than mental. She would never intentionally hurt someone. That made her realize that she had no clue of the hurt she caused people when she laughed at them. Perhaps she would have a talk with Britan sometime, a real conversation to make her understand.
Then she saw Scarlet turn as red in the face as her name. The embarassment was a fatal blow her selfesteem and obviously it made her quite angry. Perhaps Rachel would have a talk with her as well to explain Britan's seemingly horrible personality. She hoped Scarlet will see the truth rather than turning her vengence on Britan.

After Britan's laughter had faded in her her mind, Scarlet sat in front of an adult. Being lectured of the dangers of rain. Ohhhh, so scary. Scarlet thought. "Their just big ol' tears," Scarlet scoffed. This comment earned her disapproving looks that broke Scarlet down more. Scarlet had always been the hidden one. She had never really been subjected to ridicule as she never did anything to be ridiculed of. But, Scarlet knew those times were over. She was tired of sitting around and being invisible. She wanted to make other friends. Other than Oswal.

Rachel sat up and flitted her wings to dry them quicker. Ringing her hair out, Rachel was intending to confront Scarlet, then perhpas Britan. She was worried whether or not she could get through to them. She definately didn't want to make enemies but it was worth a chance.
OOC: I'll have more later. Internet time is become tight.

OOC: Okay. Thats fine with me. Ill add sumthin anyway. ;]
Scarlet was finally let out of the lecture. She flapped her wings readily as she was about to take off again, and then thought better of it. Scarlet rolled her eyes and ran off looking for Oswal.

Rachel sighed and stood up from her curled possition in the tree trunk. She got up the gumption to introduce herself and try to befriend the girl. "Hopefully things will go well," she said to herself as she walked down the roots and towards Scarlet. It was getting late and most of the fairies were leaving for the cotton fields. This would be good cause there wouldn't be onlookers.
Scarlet looked upset when Rachel walked up to her. "Um, hi there. I'm Rachel Gavial. Nice to meet you. I saw what happened. I'm sorry it had to be that way," she said.
